Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can a 6L No.2 potjie serve?

Manufacturer and current retailer data for barcode 6005876000097 place the No.2 6L size at about 8–10 people, depending on the meal and portion size.

Why does a potjie pot have three legs?

How do I avoid burning food on the bottom of a potjie?

Use gentle heat, keep adequate liquid in the pot and avoid allowing strong flames to concentrate under the base.

Can a rusty cast-iron potjie be restored?

Surface rust can generally be removed before the pot is dried and re-seasoned, provided the cookware is otherwise sound.

What makes the No.2 a useful family size?

Its 6L capacity gives enough room for a family-style potjie without moving into the much heavier large-group sizes.
